Re: X-Plane 11 Beta 1 is Out - Scratch that Itch

I can't speak for plugins and a/c just yet, but I started fiddling with scenery and in my experience there are no compatibility issues: HD Global Mesh, Ortho4XP photoreal scenery, some 20 libraries and a couple of dozen airports all seem to be loading and rendering without issues. The performance I'...

Re: R.I.P. Mr. Hoover

A legend: In 1989 at an air show at Brown Field, San Diego; Bob Hoover took a couple of passengers up in his Shrike Commander. Just after the aircraft left the runway, at approximately 300 feet, both engines simultaneously failed. Hoover managed to land the aircraft uphill onto the side of a ravine....

Re: GTN750/650 (and more) for XP10!!

Just noticed this new clarification on their website:
Includes GTN for X-Plane 11 free update (when available).
That's pretty swell, and together with the PE integration tips the scales towards purchasing.

Re: X-Plane 11 Release in November and more info

Kyle, I agree on the price being well worth it, no doubt about it. We've dumped probably 20 times the amount on addons and other 3-rd party sim services for the last 5 years since XP10 came out. My concern is, especially after also watching the presentation movies, that Laminar are pushing out with ...

Re: X-Plane 11 Release in November and more info

Some bullet points, extracted from official Laminar comments on their Facebook page: Backwards compatibility: everything that works in XP10 (aircraft, scenery, plugins) should work in XP11. XP9 addons/planes will probably be too dated to run without compatibility updates. New sound engine Improved p...

Re: U.K. Call signs

For what it's worth: in Europe callsigns (reg numbers) can be shortened by ATC using the following recommended pattern: keep the initial letter and the last 2 letters of the callsign. E.g. my preferred local callsign LZ-SVI is commonly shortened to Lima-Victor-India. My friend from across the border...

Re: KSNA Orange departure

Hi, several common VFR departure routes, including the "Orange" one (heading 330) are published on the airport's official webpage: http://www.ocair.com/generalaviation/pilotinformation Also the detailed ground chart there depicts "Dove Gate" on the south GA apron somewhere in the...
