Re: Reporting midfield when its busy

Thanks for the reply zerofay32. I did the CAT3 yesterday and on the 3rd lap I was due to report midfield and as it was busy I had turned onto base by the time I'd reported in to the controller. I suppose that you don't need clearance to turn onto base, so as it happened it wasn't the end of the worl...

Reporting midfield when its busy

Hi Came back to PE again after having a membership for a while previously but not really flying. This time I'm having much more fun, thanks. I wondered about pattern work when the radio is busy. If I'm due to report midfield and there is a conversation on the radio at the time, what is the best thin...

Real weather but less cloud?

Hi. Is there an option somewhere in xplane (or in FSGRW, RWC or SMP) to use real time weather but to cut down the amount of cloud? So maybe you could raise the ceiling, have nothing but minor cloudage less than 4000 ft AGL etc. Flying with no weather seems a bit like pressing the 'easy button' but f...

Re: ATIS

Interesting about ATIS. I notice on the myflightroute website it has a link to an ATIS Player, playing audio clips. As the clips already exist, it would be fun to have the option to have them streamed to your simulator when connected to PE and tuned to the relevant frequency within range I think. Ha...

Hi. Did the CAT1 video get saved anywhere on youtube? I watched it on Twitch but its gone now so I was hoping it had found a more permanent home.
Thanks.

Re: CAT-03 Rating / KSBP and Helicopters?

I can't see that on UK sectionals (the only ones I've held hard copies of), that's my excuse :D Just looked at the Los Angeles sectional on SkyVector and I see your point. I see that L88 has 'RP 10' next to it. So, that's presumably a right pattern, 1000ft AGL. (Oh, checking the info in the top left...

Re: CAT-03 Rating / KSBP and Helicopters?

Thanks for that Ryan. I'd never heard that about 'RP' being denoted on the sectional.

Re: CAT-03 Rating / KSBP and Helicopters?

Thanks Ryan. It was more at a non-towered airport I was worried about. At a towered airport I'd assumed that the controller would tell me the traffic pattern direction, particularly if it was different from that flown by fixed wing. Perhaps there's a certain amount of play-it-by-ear and see what see...

Re: The danger of the keyboard

Interesting story, both of how we can get in a mess and on how the PE controllers behave professionally to save the situation.

Shame there's not a 'Like this' button :)
