Re: Pilot Introductions
Hi All, I don't know if I ever gave a general introduction, and in any case I'm coming back after a hiatus so I thought I'd post one here. :) I'm Zack, a 20-something flight simulation enthusiast who happens to be totally blind. I am fortunate to be able to fly with the aid of some FSX add-ons, even...

Blind Pilot back in the cockpit
Hi All, I just wanted to post and let everybody know that the first/only (?) blind pilot on PilotEdge has finally decided to rejoin after a hiatus. :) Unfortunately, during the time I was out, the preferred add-on for blind pilots, ItsYourPlane, was discontinued suddenly. I'm stuck with FSXPilot, wh...

Re: Introduction: totally blind flight sim user
Hey, I would be more than happy to explain all this stuff to anybody interested. :) I've never personally used TeamSpeak, but am open to learning about how it works if its' most convenient. The most important aspect of my tech setup is ItsYourPlane, a program which lets us control most airplanes wit...

Re: Vectors to join a Victor airway
Hi All, In doing some research into this, I stumbled onto this thread . There, it is suggested that for Foreflight purposes I input "SLI v23 OCN," even if I'm actually going to get vectors to join the V23 in mid-stream. I wonder if the same logic applies to other flight planners, such as t...

Re: Vectors to join a Victor airway
Just wondering. What was the Last instruction that ATC gave you? Was it perhaps to fly a heading and then JOIN V23? If so the method is to fly the heading assigned and wait until the CDI of the HSI centers. Then turn to track the Victor airway. In the absence of instructions, another method is comp...

Vectors to join a Victor airway
Hi All, I was trying to fly the I4 this afternoon, from KSNA to KSDM. The route I found was V23 MZB. I was given vectors to join the V23 airway, and made the assumption that flying direct to MZB via FSXPilot's GPS would be acceptable. I was told soon after that I was apparently not on the airway. Th...

Checklists and realism in PE
Hi All, I'm curious how many people who fly on PE use checklists to try and make the experience as realistic as possible? One of the weird things about flying as a blind pilot is that I have a choice of two programs for plane control. One of them doesn't really handle SID/STARS at all, but does an e...

Re: Interesting Flight Tonight
Visual approaches are actually supported by the programs I use, though they're a lot more automatic than in real life, of course. They can't really account for weird terrain, so I've had a few incidents in which I crashed into mountains, or the like. Still, I'm thinking I might want to try one when ...

Interesting Flight Tonight
Hi All, I had an almost successful flight tonight, (DAL 2048), and thought it might be an interesting object lesson, or at least vaguely entertaining. I was flying KLAX to KSEA, and the trip up until approach phase went reasonably well. I was pleased to see that the plan I downloaded from Simbrief i...

Re: FSX GPS anTEC ROutes
I'm afraid I am using the default equipment. I guess I'll have to poke around, there has to be either an accessible alternative or a way for me to sidestep the problem.
