Re: C172 Fun Flight
Nice shots Ryan. I got checked out in the SkyCatcher last Thursday... 106/hr! Now if Oregon will give us some more nice clear days like last Thursday I'll get to fly her some more. (actually I was scheduled to shoot approaches in the Arrow for IFR currency but when I saw what a nice clear day it was...
Re: ZOA?
I do understand Keith and I'm sure it wasn't an easy decision to make since more airspace is an attraction to potential customers. I run a business too and have to make decisions that piss off a few people every once in a while! I am looking forward to seeing large enough numbers to make this happen...
Re: ZOA?
That's a shame. I've been putting off flying weekdays in anticipation for flyin NorCal on weekends. Wife keeps loading up the tasks though and many times too tired by the time I can get to fly. Went to load up a flight this morning only to find this. Not sure I feel like flying now... Bummed for sure.

Re: TEC terminology ?
PQ is used for piston aircraft, JM is used for turboprop and jet. They break down further but I don't recall offhand right now. You can google search it.

Re: What Weather Program FSX?
Active Sky 2012. I have used Active Sky for many years and past three versions, each one an improvement over the last and the current version gets updated for any bugs and improvements in operation. Active Sky also works with Prepar3d so if you transition to P3d (which doesn't have built in real wor...

Re: NEMA GPS device for IPAD
My second trip out to Radio Shack got it working. They didn't have a female to female null modem so had to keep the adaptor and use it with the null modem. I also bought an extension so the cable length is not a problem and can use the iPad in the position I am used to when simming. It all works now...

Re: NEMA GPS device for IPAD
Understood -- frankly, getting a USB to Serial might not actually solve your problem, as you'll still need the null modem adapater/cable. I found a Null Modem Male->Female adapter at radio shack and then added a gender changer, which worked well, however my cable length issue that you described nip...

Re: NEMA GPS device for IPAD
When you get your 'adapter' make absolutely sure it is a NULL MODEM female => female. just an adapter, or a gender changer will NOT work. The piece that is included is a null modem loop back device, so that once you install the application, you can actually connect that and see the output -- not re...
