A STAR for Oshkosh - SimVenture 2024
Greetings wing rockers! For SimVenture 2021 I created a STAR to serve as a fun planning tool for the really dedicated pilots who want to fly their planes to Oshkosh before the big event. It's not a Standard Terminal Arrival Route, but rather a S imVenture T ag A long R oute. It's now updated it to r...

Re: ZLA Alphabet Challenge- a 5 Star Review
I agree that this concept is fantastic. It's wonderful for having a purpose of flying, also a varied landscape and very very importantly - varied airspace and airports to contend with. I think flying the Alphabet Challenges will leave the pilot armed with knowledge and experience to fly in and aroun...

Re: American 2442 Pilot Deviation
Hello, Oh well. Next time I'll try something that I can count on more. ;) Thank you, Bob I'm going to partly joke here, but if you look inside the cockpit there, ignoring all the fancy buttonry, there are two big hunks coming up through the floor. They have grips that looks like horns. You may even...

Re: June 29 ZLA event
That 172 pilot was me. I was doing a 360 to avoid conflict with your extremely slow approach. First time my 172 has been to fast for other traffic.
I stayed in the pattern at Camarillo to catch the traffic, but was cut short by low oil pressure and had to make an emergency landing. Fun event!

Re: KMSO ILS Y 11 Missed Approach
That was an interesting case. You could do the right turn 2 miles before the VOR, but it'd have to be a very slight one to intercept R-150. The confusion stems, afaik, from the lack of a clear missed approach point. Eyeballing it tells me that getting from 5000 to 6200, being a matter of seconds in ...

However, if PE were to have this amount of traffic regularly.... That would need a change or two in staffing, one can't but feel.Keith Smith wrote:If anyone else is confused...this event took place on VATSIM, not on PE.

Re: How serious of a pilot are you?
There is a new series of IFR flights being released soon that will feature a new set of legs to be flown each month. They're designed so that the starting point for a given month is not the same as the previous month's destination. This way, there is an opportunity for the ultra-realism fans to do ...

Re: How serious of a pilot are you?
I'm an A-B-C-D flyer. Almost to the extent of it being fanatical. But it is so much fun! I'm doing the Alphabet Challenge these days, and I'm doing the whole thing without doing other flights in the system. So when the PEaware crashed during my flight from Bullhead to Thermal (I found out after I la...

Re: You're talking to a dead man
These are the best experiences. Learning by making mistakes that would, IRL, perhaps be fatal. You also get to know yourself, and your knowledge of the aircraft systems, when in an emergency - what can you actually do, and what is a waste of time. How fast can you establish a safe landing spot while...
