Garmin gauges/gps
Anybody know of a piston powered sim plane that has a G650 and a G5 HSI and AI? I was wondering if I could modify my existing dash, but that sounds above my pay grade. All help/ideas appreciated. Thanks!

Latest update .3
Anybody having issues with new update and PE? I got an ultra rare crash last night, while on PE with new update, and tonight, after trying to login to PE, the software stops responding. I flew earlier in the day with a purchased plane and no PE, and it did fine. IDK that I’ve got any settings change...

Re: Descend at Pilot's Discretion
If I am using FF, and I’ve told ATC what my altitude was prior to departure, on a VFR flight, does he not bother with my altitude in flight? If I descend, due to clouds or more favorable winds, a couple thousand feet, is that not something I should let ATC know?

Re: Descend at Pilot's Discretion
It would seem, as courtesy, that if you are flying with radar services, unless the controller is covered up with work, that you could give him a heads up on a descent. Situational awareness, safety, yada, yada...”At your discretion” seems kinda contradictive, tho. I guess a heads up is still in order

Variable winds
Anybody got tips or a formula they use on X Plane to set up some semi-realistic variable winds? I can dial up gusts with crosswinds, but can’t seem to recreate variable winds/gusts on the sim that suit me. There are three variables for setting up winds, but all I end up with are gusts in the air and...

Re: Subscription coverage area
No arguing that point. It’s clearly in the Oakland area. I just was curious why I had been able to fly there before and not been disconnected. No worries, tho. Will find another one to fly to!

Subscription coverage area
I was wondering if the borders for the LA coverage area had been changed? I departed San Luis to Paso Robles this morn, and before I got to PR I was disconnected. I tried to reconnect and the little box said that I was outside of the subscription area. I flew the same route the night before and didn...

Re: XPlane 11 and PE questions
I use the REP C172 in Xplane and it really is impressive. It’s a tick more realistic than the stock 172, and it has the walk around/memory thingy. When I flew the cat 10, I got a rendering message. That’s the only time I’ve ever seen it. I use three monitors, not the VR, but everything else works gr...

Re: How (or if) to say no
I have since figured out just to keep the dep frequency on standby before I roll. Clicking the lil button is a whole lot easier than trying to spin those silly virtual knobs with a mouse

Re: real world avaition headsets
What Roger said. Nothing in aviation is cheap, as you know, and I am finding out. I was told by a couple of people, my first instructor included, that the David Clark’s were good, middle of the road, headsets. I bought a set, under 4 bills, and have been happy. Can’t attest to longevity, but they ar...
