Re: Expect visual...contact when on the LOC
I don't think there is anything unusual about being asked to call 'established' on the localizer after being told to expect a visual for Rwy XX. It's really no different than being told to report when established on a VOR radial and I think it's pretty common practice for an approach controller to m...

Responsibility for Terrain Separation
Not related to PE, but a general ATC question:
You're on an IFR flight plan in IMC, flying a planned element of your route. ATC issues a heading change (i.e., a vector) and a descent. Who is responsible for terrain separation?

LAX Bravo Transition Restrictions
Just out of curiosity, why do the Mini-Route and SFRA transitions have a 'no turbo-jet' restrictions? With the advent of the VLJ (very light jet) category, airplanes like the Citation 510 "Mustang" have no problem meeting the maximum 140 KIAS speed limit for the SFRA and there isn't a spee...

Re: Real World Coast to Coast now available
I've finished watching the whole series now and enjoyed it immensely.
Now how about the return flight? And did you ever get any video of the 777 simulator you talked about?

Flight Following & ATC
OK, I've gotten a little fuzzy. Outside of Class B or C airspace, would the TRACON ever be issuing vectors or altitudes to a VFR aircraft (other than for traffic alert or low altitude alert situations -- I mean just normal, everyday vectors or altitude assignments like an IFR aircraft might be given...

Which only seems fair, given all the names they call us. Usually, with the PTT switch off....HRutila wrote:...because all that affects is the name you call them on the radio.

ATC Phraseology
Two questions: (1) What is the correct ATC phraseology to give a pilot flying a DP a "shortcut" but then continue flying the DP? For example (and picking something totally random -- just the first DP I pulled up) -- say a pilot departs KLAS Rwy 7R on the BOACH6 DP. There's no traffic and A...

Deliberately induced inverted flat spins. That's just...not right.

Re: LatinVFR KSNA released (fsx/p3d)
I have this scenery installed in P3D v2.4 and it's beautiful. I'm not seeing any significant impact on framerates at all. I can also say that that KSNA doesn't really look much at all like the stock scenery! I practically didn't recognize my 'regular' parking spot. Indeed, I recommend you turn off t...

Re: Best P3d Weather Engine
The best weather engine is not exactly the same as the best weather textures . I was quite confused about this a couple of years ago when I got interested in having a better weather simulation. The weather 'engine' is responsible for pulling down current weather data for a given set of locations (ar...
