Re: ATIS
D’oh. I was looking at the CRAFT details page, didn’t even think to check the ATIS page. Very nice, and thanks for all the work on the site! It’s very useful.

Re: ATIS
Keith has addressed this topic a number of times in the past. This project is on his “development radar” ( perhaps when it’s set to maximum range ). See http://forums.pilotedge.net/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=7147 for some of his posts on this topic. Would it be possible to get MyFlightRoute to display...

Re: climb and maintain VNAV considerations
Also worth noting that if you are issued a climb/descend via clearance, then later issued a straight climb/descend and maintain, that does NOT negate speed restrictions on the SID/STAR. You have to be explicitly released from any speed restrictions.

Re: Aspen circle to land 33
I once witnessed a Dash 8 circle to land on RWY 33 from the west side of the airport. It was absolutely nuts, and as far as I'm aware, is no longer allowed. The old Mesaba BAe-146's used to pop their tail-speedbrake and circle to 33. It was quite a sight. Couldn't find a video of it, but I did find...

Re: It Sure Can Get Exciting!
Even then^, the controller could get you your clearance at an uncontrolled field while you are at the ramp. When they ask you for your expected departure time, tell them but, you could ask them if you can just call holding short of the runway. Then they could give you a 5-10min clearance void time....

Re: The "Day in the Life Challenge"
I'm a real airline pilot based in DEN and would be more than willing to provide some real schedules for you guys if you want to keep doing things like this. I'd say only about 50% of the flying I do would be within the coverage area, but I can dig through our bid package and find some cool stuff I'm...

Re: It Sure Can Get Exciting!
Keith and Kyle are correct. The only instance I can think of in real life where we'd get our clearance with the engines running is departing an uncontrolled airport (i.e. EUG early in the morning). In that case, we start up, taxi out while announcing on CTAF, then call SEA Center for clearance holdi...

Re: Time for ADS-B?
...so does that mean that most enroute facilities can read the stupid things we put as our ADSB Flight ID?

Re: Time for ADS-B?
Just out of curiosity, does anyone know when the NextGen ATC systems will be fully implemented throughout the NAS? What's the point of requiring everyone to have ADSB-out if they can't see it yet on radar?

Awesome post! Echoing the comments above, I really admire your decision making and level head in that hectic situation. Couldn't have handled it any better!
