Drones only appear as Red Tags, not aircraft

Post by Calvin Waterbury »

This may be handled elsewhere, but I could not locate anything usable.

After attempting to locate drones visually I discovered none could be seen even at ~2nm unless the MSFS red tags were turned on. I verified the PE models were in multiplayer tab. How do I make the drones/aircraft models visible?

Thanks.

It's an artifact of FS2004/FSX. The planes are very difficult to see without the tags.

X-Plane makes them quite a bit easier to see (even with lights off).

I'm running a little behind, but did the new FS9 PE Client improve this or is it a problem with FS9?
Thanks.

We tell the sim to draw planes and the sim draws the planes. The situation hasn't changed. FWIW, spotting a plane visually at more than 2 miles away is actually quite difficult in real life during the day.

Thanks for the clarification. You must be a mind reader. I was going to post the question about distance visibility since I was thinking about it earlier this afternoon. The fact the AI planes are not that visible has been good practice for my out-of-cockpit awareness. When I "fly" I am constantly scanning the skies, especially when my synthetic ATC indicates other aircraft are in the area.
