that is one big helicopter

Sorry for me being a prick, but what's so impressive in landing a fully working helicopter in a beach? Helicopters are supposed to land anywhere by design. It's not gliding 747 with engines out.. Nowdays every landing is impressive landing so it seems.

Yeah, I mean they noticed low pressure, but it didn't look like a autorotation to me

It would have been a single engine approach to a non-prepared surface. It's not really a big deal if the helicopter had just the crew on board, but if there was any cargo/pax or even just a full bag of gas, a single engine approach means there's no power to hover. Thus it's a forced landing once you drop below translational lift. There's also the issue of leaking oil passing over engines running at 700 degrees, which would may have caused a fire.Yeah, I mean they noticed low pressure, but it didn't look like a autorotation to me.

It is. Here's the MH53 variant in KDLH, this one with lasers to shoot incoming stuff down, and that ugly balding guy is me.davidspreckeriii wrote: that is one big helicopter

Talk about a spacious cockpit..... If I may ask, what do you do in relation to the helicopter? Pilot, controller, ogler?
