PilotEdge voice initialization error

Post by PurdueKev »

I just re-activated my account now that I have P3Dv4 up and running... I have installed the latest PE client, but when I run the application I get the following voice initialization error (sorry for the large image sizes):

Image

I am running my sim ambient audio through my onboard sound card, and my headset is run through my Sennheiser GSX 1000 external sound device (connected via USB). I believe I have everything set up properly per the instructions (see below):

However, I keep getting this error when trying to start the PE client. Can anyone help troubleshoot? This used to work perfectly when I had a different USB headset - I had everything configured the same way.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Kevin

Just to note, I also get a "Voice Disabled" notification when I log in to PilotEdge in X-Plane 11 as well.

There are a small number of audio devices which our audio library doesn't seem to be able to open. Jabra headsets, Plantronics, and now this one, near as I can tell.

Would a HP Webcam HD 5210 also be a device not recognized by your library?
I have another older device that works fine, but I can't use the camera for other windows apps

Actually, a more likely cause with Windows 10, as of an update from Apr 2018, is that you need to grant permission to use the mic. It's a PAINFUL change in Windows 10.

Ralph, no issues with any webcams as far as I know, although they are far from ideal as microphones as your voice will sound fairly distant compared to a headset, and they will pick up a ton of ambient noise.

You posted on the Prepar3D forum. Verify you’re using x-plane 11, or Prepar3D?

His post had nothing to do with P3D. He just posted here for some reason. I assume he deleted the vsprosound.ini file for XPlane.
