X-Plane Street Light Enhancement (no frame drop)

Post by Kyle.Sanders »

Right side of the attached image is default XP10 lights. Left side of image is with the enhancement. I had exactly 00.06FPS drop.

Honestly, I prefer the right. Am I alone?

Not alone, I'm with you. I like the major arteries being brighter, but the left one everything seems overblown.

I do wish I could dim the tweak down about 20% but it's still more realistic to what is actually there in reality. Also, I can't really run cars. Too much AG.

Kyle, I like it. But it would be nice to get something right in the middle of the two images IMO. What is your "objects" setting for these images? Obviously the objects setting significantly affects the number of lights and frame rates, or do you know of a way to get these great night lights without 'objects' cranked up?

My objects are set at "a lot" and no cars. "A lot" is the first setting that allows street lights it seems. I can't run HDR and I agree- something between these images would be perfect.
I really want something that feels like this: http://youtu.be/QFEtJOF2UpU

I agree, if we are talking about a densely populated urban area, the left looks way more realistic. Now if we could just find a way to show the sky glow from those urban areas without a performance hit. :)

Real Terra Haze allows you to change the intensity of the lights. It works great.

RTH requires HDR. I can't run HDR. This fix is for people like me :)

Either would look a lot better if the lights themselves weren't of uniform color and brightness... no idea if there's a way to do that.
